Yesterday, my orthodontist took some pictures of my teeth. It's two months since I had my Incognito brace off, and he asked me if I was pleased with the result because it had been a longer and more painful process than I had expected. I tried to be positive, but he could tell that I wasn't 100% sure.
The problem was that although the brace was made by a computerised system in Germany, and should have given me that perfect smile (and did to a certain extent if you look at the photos for last year) extra little adjustments had to be made because my right canine tooth would not line up with the others. This meant that the new wires were difficult to fit, and my teeth began to pull over to my right.
Last year, they were fairly even across the bottom edge, but now they go up and down a bit, and still that right canine does not match the left one.
He said that an Inspire Ice brace on the front few teeth for only about three months was all that would be needed to finish things off. He did suggest it before, but I wasn't sure then; I'd had enough of braces and adjustments altogether!
My teeth don't look too bad in this photo, and he did say that most people wouldn't notice that they are not perfect. In fact, I did read somewhere that an orthodontist always made sure that his patients' teeth were slightly imperfect to make them look more natural!
So I don't know. The decision is up to me. I'm due to go back in December for a check up so I have got some time to decide.
Whatever I do decide, one thing is sure and that is that they are so much better than they were in the first place!

i think you should do it, whilst it is offered! otherwise you could be years from now doing it at extra expense. also you can get the braces out the way and after a few months it will be done, and you wont be wondering 'what if'.
ReplyDeletei have incognito, but its not working right either, so im swapping to ceramic uppers in two weeks. i have a few more issues that you, but should only be in them for 6 months. and i work in an office and meet clients day in day out so its not going to be pleasant. but in the grand scheme of life its only a short while.
go for it! :)
Thanks, Ria. I'm certainly giving it some thought.
ReplyDeleteYour teeth improved greatly! I read your post since July 2011 and followed your journey in attaining a beautiful smile. December had passed. Have you decided whether to wear the Inspire Ice brace or not? Whatever you decide, I know you’ll definitely achieve the gorgeous smile you’ve always wanted. :) I’m looking forward to seeing the result of all your efforts.
